Finished? Read and Notes on “The Promise”. This will be our first difficult text. You will need to read and annotate it carefully, and look up vocabulary as we go. We will discuss/seminar on this text on Friday. This will introduce you to a core concept/mindset for this class: The Sociological Imagination. This is a college level text- skimming won’t work for this! You will be taking Cornell Notes on this- they are a great way to keep track of important information, and this specific note-taking formula is one that we will use all semester for lectures and for readings.

What is Society? (Example: US, Nigeria, Mexico)
Consider how the invention of the internet is contributing to a new approach to sociology (global) or a new perspective on “sharing geographic territory” What is Sociology? In your small groups, work together to answer the following questions. You may use the reading I gave you, and each other to fully answer the questions. I’m looking for at least 1-2 sentences per question.
