Social Mobility Factors Jigsaw You are going to become experts on one aspect of social mobility. In your group, you should meet and choose what resource you would each like to do. Today and Thursday, your goal should be to read and understand what that resource is telling you. Friday you will create posters that clearly lay out what the issue is and how it impacts social mobility. Your poster must include a title, visual, relevant data/evidence.

Please tell students I will be back tomorrow- we are starting our unit on social inequality this week. Have them open up their catch-all document to put their list in they will generate for their starter! Starter- Measurements of Inequality (10 min) In what ways (measurements) can groups/individuals be unequal? Brainstorm at your table, and put the resulting list in your catch-all sociology document. We will review these on Thursday when Lori is back! You should have AT LEAST 10 things here. Think physical items, but also skills, types of power, institution, etc. Documentary- People Like Us (30 min) Please tell students this is the first part of a documentary- we will likely be watching more segments over the next few weeks. It is a little dated, but the main observations still hold true. This is essentially an examination of how we divide ourselves into different classes in the United States. As you watch this movie, please take notes (by hand, not on computer, on the following things:

Group Behavior Discussion
In this discussion, you will be focusing on Asch (conformity), Milgram (obedience), and the Bystander Effect. This should serve as quiz review as well as letting you dig a little deeper into the content. You will want your readings, and possibly your notes out during this discussion.
